The Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL)


With funds from NIH and NSF, Sociometrics developed the Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL), a premium health and social science resource that consists of over 500 datasets from more than 250 studies. The datasets are organized into 9 topically-focused collections or archives including:

Every study included in the data archives was selected by a scientist expert panel based on its technical quality, substantive importance to the field, policy relevance, potential for secondary analysis, and disciplinary balance. Each data archive contains raw data files, SAS & SPSS Data Extract Program Files, SPSS portable files, Frequencies, Data Dictionaries, and Detailed User's Guides.

Sociometrics' data archives have been used individually by thousands of students and professionals at universities and research institutions throughout the United States for more than 20 years. The comprehensive Electronic Data Library enables users to:

  • Search and retrieve variables within individual and across studies by Topic, Type, or Keyword(s)
  • Prepare files for data analysis
  • Conduct online data analysis
  • View and print the original data collection instruments

An annual subscription to the Electronic Data Library includes:

  • Unlimited downloading of all data, instruments, and supporting documentation
  • Free access to the Multivariate Interactive Data Analysis System (MIDAS)
  • Free technical assistance
